Poem from a Postcard

May 20, 1943

A few of us are sitting in the park

in the center of town. Water

in front of us, and I wish

we could go for a swim. So hot

I just about sleep through

our classes. Navy were here

last night, first time in ages

I had some ice cream. Any time

you want to send a lemon pie

I could go for it. With love, the WAC.
